Imadegawa Suemochi (今出川季持)
Suemochi IMADEGAWA (1575 - March 7, 1596) was a kugyo (court noble) who lived during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. He served the era of Emperor Goyozei (the 106th). Because he died young, he advanced only to Chunagon (vice-councilor of state) at the rank of Junii (Junior Second Rank), although he came from the Seiga family (one of the highest court noble families inJapan at that time). His father was Udaijin (minister of the right) Harusue IMADEGAWA. Tsunesue IMADEGAWA was his son.
He was conferred to a peerage in 1576. After that, he was awarded the rank of Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) in 1585, becoming a kugyo, after assuming jiju (position of chamberlain) and a post at Konoefu (the headquarters of the inner palace guards). Although he became Chunagon, he died in 1596. When he died, he was young, twenty-two years old.
